Getting Started: Page Creators

Everything you need to create your first donation page and start collecting donations for multiple causes.

1 Create Your Account

To create a donation page, you first need a SplitGive account.

  1. Visit the SplitGive homepage and click Create your first page
  2. Enter your name, email address, and choose a password
  3. Check your inbox and click the verification link (if required)
  4. You'll land on your Dashboard — your home base for managing all your donation pages

2 Create a Donation Page

Your donation page is the public-facing page donors will visit to give.

  1. From your Dashboard, click Create New Page
  2. Enter a title (e.g., "Support Our Community Garden")
  3. Write a description explaining your cause — this is what donors read before giving. You can use basic Markdown formatting (bold, lists, links)
  4. Click Create Page to save your draft
Tip: Your page starts as a draft. Donors can't see it until you publish it, so you can take your time setting everything up.

3 Add Recipients

Recipients are the people or organizations who will receive the donations. You can add up to several recipients per page, each receiving a percentage of every donation.

  1. Open your page and go to the Recipients tab
  2. Click Add Recipient
  3. Enter the recipient's name and email address
  4. Set their split percentage — all recipients must add up to 100%
  5. Optionally add a short description of who this recipient is (donors will see this)
  6. If the recipient is a registered nonprofit (501(c)(3)), you can enter their EIN so donors can receive tax-deductible receipts
  7. Click Save — an invitation email is automatically sent to the recipient
Important: Recipients must connect their Stripe account before they can receive donations. Until they do, donations for that recipient become pledges — saved securely and fulfilled once they connect. Learn about pledges →

4 Customize Your Page

A well-presented page gets more donations. Here's how to make yours stand out:

  • Cover image: Upload a compelling photo that represents your cause. This appears at the top of your donation page.
  • Color theme: Pick a color scheme that matches your brand or cause
  • Font: Choose from several legible font options
  • Suggested amounts: Set preset donation amounts (e.g., $25, $50, $100) so donors can give with a single click
  • Custom URL: Create a short, memorable link like splitgive.app/your-cause
  • Page managers: Invite trusted team members to help manage the page

5 Publish and Share

Once you're happy with your page and at least one recipient has connected their Stripe account, you're ready to go live.

  1. Click Publish to make your page visible to the public
  2. Copy your page URL from the page settings or your dashboard
  3. Share the link on social media, email, newsletters, or anywhere your audience is
  4. Optionally enable Show in Directory to let your page appear in SplitGive's public discovery page
Tip: Pages with cover images, complete descriptions, and clear recipient information consistently receive more donations.

6 Track Donations

Monitor how your page is performing from your Dashboard.

  • Dashboard overview: See total donations, number of donors, and page performance at a glance
  • Analytics: View donation trends over time, payment method breakdowns, and conversion metrics
  • Donation list: Browse all individual donations with donor details and split amounts
  • Export: Download a CSV of all donations and donor information for your records
